The God Math: How God Calculates. By Godwin Chris Ike
Good morning my esteemed readers, I trust that our previous articles (The Excellency of Knowledge) has equipped our minds with information that will help us Excel in our journey of life. Hallelujah
Ok today we'll be sharing my thoughts about how God Calculates and I titled this piece - THE GOD MATHS.
I PRAY THIS PIECE WILL BRING ABOUT A TRANSFORMATION IN YOUR MIND.
Let's dive in...
Mathematics, as we know it, is based on principles of logic, order, and predictability. But when we delve into the ways of God, we quickly realize that divine mathematics is far different from human logic. In God Math, the equations often seem illogical, the outcomes unpredictable, and the process unconventional — but the results are always perfect. This article explores how God calculates, using biblical themes, scriptures, and practical examples that illuminate the extraordinary nature of divine logic.
1. God Multiplies by Dividing
In human math, division reduces. In God Math, division can lead to multiplication.
Biblical Example: In John 6:1–14, Jesus feeds 5,000 men (not counting women and children) with five loaves and two fish. How? He blessed and broke them — He divided them — and they multiplied.
“And when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples... as much as they would.” – John 6:11
Practical Insight: Sometimes, when we feel like we are being "broken" or "divided" — perhaps through sacrifice, giving, or even suffering — we are being positioned for multiplication. God’s multiplication often comes after the breaking.
2. God Adds Through Subtraction
In God’s economy, sometimes subtraction is the path to increase.
Biblical Example: Gideon starts with 32,000 men to fight the Midianites. God reduces the army to 300 men (Judges 7:1–7). To Gideon, this subtraction seems like a threat to victory. But in God Math, less is more — because the power is in the God-factor, not the headcount.
“The people that are with thee are too many for me...” – Judges 7:2
Practical Insight: God may subtract toxic relationships, reduce your comfort zone, or take away your reliance on certain people or things — not to punish, but to streamline you for victory. When God subtracts, it's often a setup for a greater testimony.
3. God’s Zero Is Not Empty
To man, zero equals nothing. But in God Math, zero is the starting point of creation.
Biblical Example: In Genesis 1, the earth was "without form, and void" — a type of zero. Yet from this nothingness, God created everything. His Word filled the void.
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” – Genesis 1:3
Practical Insight: Never despise your season of nothing. When you feel like you have nothing left, God sees an opportunity to display His power. When God speaks into your void, the impossible becomes inevitable.
4. One with God Is a Majority
In human math, one against many is defeat. In God Math, one with God is unstoppable.
Biblical Example: David versus Goliath (1 Samuel 17). A shepherd boy with a sling versus a trained giant warrior with armor. The odds were 1:1000, but God’s presence changed the equation.
“You come to me with sword... but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts.” – 1 Samuel 17:45
Practical Insight: You may feel outnumbered — in your workplace, your family, or even in your spiritual walk. But when you're on God's side, your “1” becomes infinite. God doesn’t count like man; He counts with Himself.
5. God Rewards According to Faith, Not Figures
God does not calculate worth based on numbers alone, but on the weight of faith.
Biblical Example: The widow in Mark 12:41–44 gave two small coins, but Jesus said she gave more than all the rich people. Her sacrifice, not her sum, was what counted.
“For they all gave out of their abundance, but she... gave all she had.” – Mark 12:44
Practical Insight: You may not have the biggest talent, wealth, or status, but God’s calculator isn’t material — it’s spiritual. He sees the heart, not just the hand. Your little, in faith, is great in His eyes.
6. Delay ≠ Denial: God’s Timing Alters the Equation
In human math, time is linear. But God operates in kairos (divine timing), not just chronos (clock time). What seems late to us is often perfectly timed by Him.
Biblical Example: Jesus delayed coming to Lazarus until after he had died. By then, people had given up hope. But Jesus shows up, not just to heal, but to resurrect (John 11).
“Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” – John 11:40
Practical Insight: God may delay not to hurt, but to magnify the testimony. He doesn’t rush into miracles — He orchestrates them for maximum impact.
Conclusion: Trust God’s Math
God’s calculations are not bound by human logic. His math defies formulas. His outcomes cannot be graphed on earthly charts. That’s why Proverbs 3:5–6 urges:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”
When you feel like life’s numbers don’t add up — look again. With God, 1 + 1 is not always 2. Sometimes, it’s an open heaven. Sometimes, it’s a miraculous breakthrough. Sometimes, it’s exactly what you need.
In God Math, obedience is the equation. Faith is the formula. And grace is the answer.
